NOTE: The Labor Pool and Credentialing Unit of UCSF Medical Center’s Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) is currently requesting all UCSF School of Medicine departments and divisions interested in disaster privileging of its ACGME-fellows to send lists to [email protected] (Executive Director of the Office of Medical Affairs and Governance) and [email protected] (Vice Chair of Department of Medicine and Section Chief of the HICS Labor Pool/Credentialing Unit).  

The list should identify the 1.) fellow’s full name, 2.) specialty area, 3.) program director’s name, and 4.) the department/division’s credentialing expectation regarding deployment. 


 

Disaster Privilege Requirements for Fellows

Fellows in ACGME-accredited programs can function within their core specialty, consistent with UCSF policies and procedures, if:

  1. they are American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) board-eligible or -certified in the core specialty;
  2. they are appointed to the medical staff at the Sponsoring Institution; and,
  3. their time spent on their core specialty service is limited to 20 percent of their annual education time in any academic year,
  4. their Program Director and the Designated Institutional Officer (DIO), Dr. Bobby Baron - Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education approves their disaster privilege application.

Residents are not credentialed for activity - please contact the Graduate Medical Education office for questions regarding Resident clinical activity during the COVID-19 pandemic.
